About the event

ABOUT THE SHOW

Journey back in time with us to Madison Square Garden, August 1, 1971.  George Harrison, at the behest of sitarist Ravi Shankar, had organized two concerts (2:30 and 8:00 pm), which have come to be known as The Concert for Bangladesh.  These shows were the first ever to harness the power of rock and roll in an effort to raise awareness and ease the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the nascent country of Bangladesh.  The show’s “supergroup” included Harrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Leon Russell, Billy Preston, Bob Dylan, and an all-star cast of supporting players.  The Royal is proud to present a tribute to the Concert for Bangladesh on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 8:00 pm.  Performers include the house band, Drunkard’s Dream, and a number of special guests.  All proceeds will benefit The Royal, a 501(C)3 non-profit organization, to assist in its mission to provide a first-class, intimate performance venue for the local community.  Please join us and celebrate this timeless music.
