About the event

Come experience a unique showcase of incredible songs, storytelling, collaboration and community. This concert series brings you 4 talented songwriters curated by Aaron Nathans, Avi Wisnia, and Meghan Cary. Each month, a different line up of stand out artists share the stage, taking turns performing an eclectic variety of original songs, sharing the stories behind those songs, and speaking to the unique perspective that comes with having strong connections to the Philadelphia music scene.  May's concert features: Emily Drinker, Laura Zucker, Jeni Englund, joined by your host Meghan Cary.

The Artists: Emily Drinker is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Conshohocken, PA. She blends folk, pop, and rock with her high-energy band and signature live-looped harmonies. Emily has been featured by NPR Music, Philadelphia's WXPN, and played at many regional festivals including Firefly, Musikfest, and the Main Stage at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. In 2022 Emily opened for rock icon Pat Benatar, baroque pop singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, songwriting legend JD Souther (Linda Ronstadt, Eagles, James Taylor), and bass virtuoso Bakithi Kumalo (Paul Simon’s Graceland). In 2023, Emily is focusing on touring and releasing new music.

Laura Zucker writes songs with powerful yet sensitive lyrics, evocative, infectious melodies and arrangements that cut straight to the heart, songs born of a hard-won perspective and a positive spin. Writer, performer, coach, music educator, all-around wise guy, Laura Zucker is also 3-time Kerrville NewFolk finalist, 5-time West Coast Songwriters Association Best Song of the Year, FalconRidge Emerging Artist, SWRFA Official Artist, and author of the #1 best-selling book “SongC.R.A.F.T., Writing Songs In Your Authentic Voice.”

From basement jukebox sing-alongs to classical vocal training, Jeni Englund grew up communicating in song form. It was there her insecure self found an excuse to be honest and the freedom to scream, whisper, or speak up, whatever was needed. Although she moved from Wisconsin to NYC in order to study musical theater, the craving to have control over her content and a chance meeting on a late night subway led her to become a singer-songwriter. She currently performs solo as well as with her trio of singer-songwriter friends, 3rowback.

Critically-acclaimed artist Meghan Cary didn't mean to be a musician. But when her fiancé unexpectedly died, she picked up his guitar, figured out how to play it, and wrote her debut record, earning her Billboard Magazine's esteemed "Critics Choice Award." Cary engages audiences on a powerfully personal level, inviting them in and leading them through an experience that has been called healing, inspiring and outrageously joyful.
